Training course for formal and non-formal educators on Education for alternative water resources

MEdIES was excited to run this week-long course for the first time aiming to suggest a complete set of ESD methodology and resources to support ESD educators to cultivate water responsible behaviour and transformative action,  and to develop competences in embedding NCWRs -Non Conventional Water Resources-  in ESD.

The course took place from 15 to 21 May 2022 with the participation of a small but rather dynamic group of 5 teachers from Malta, 1 teacher from Spain and 1 post-graduate student from the University of Athens. The course applied selected on-site (outdoor) and hands-on training sessions in combination with presentations and lectures, creating the enabling learning enviroment for understanding how NCWRs can contribute to climate change adaptation, particularly to water scarce communities; how past water management methods can be re-considered and valued nowadays (in Europe and beyond); and, how to transform learning practices and lifestyles towards the SDG6, and the SDGs, in general.

The participants were supported by ERASMUS + KA1 (Key Action 1: Mobility of Individuals). The trainees were engaged in all sessions and provided important reflection and feedback for the next version of the Course  that is foreseen for November 2022. See more here

PARTICIPANTS QUOTES:

I learnt more about water resources and how important this matter is, a mix of theory and practise is necessary to undertand better the topic and empathise with it.

Everything was well organized and practical and very informative. There is always room for more hands on activities!

Efficient balanced between theory and practice/experiential activities. I missed other nationalities!

Variation in the related topics was achieved, a really enjoyed and learnt a lot. Hope next time to have the chance to interact with schools and students!
