MEdIES organized for the 1st time a week-long training course for educators on Animation, held in Athens from 9 to 15 September 2023! 11 teachers from Malta and 2 from Greece participated in the course that included a series of sessions, both indoors and study visits. The course aimed to develop teachers’ competences in animation methodologies and tools in teaching and learning.
Apart from the MEdIES staff, experts from the Department of Graphic Design and Visual Communication of University of West Attica joined the trainers’ team delivering interactive workshops on animation practices in education.
As the course’s evaluation results revealed the participating teachers seemed to enjoy and appreciate the sessions dedicated to ESD and WIA as the framework of the course as well as the practical workshops on design and the ones dedicated to animation software, development principles and implementation. In addition, the study visits to the archaeological sites in Thorikos and the Temple of Poseidon in Sounio gave the team the opportunity to use technologies such as the Wikiloc app as a useful tool integrate mobile education and field exploration into teaching and learning.
The Maltese teachers supported their participation through KA1 (Key Action 1: Mobility of Individuals) of Erasmus+.
