On March 20, 2025, the 1st Primary School of Rafina hosted a dynamic and productive -school teacher training session as part of the Erasmus+ PARCCE project. With the participation of 15 teachers and duration of two hours (13:30-15:30), the training aimed at thoroughly preparing educators for the effective implementation of the program in the classroom.

During the session, teachers had the opportunity to explore the educational activities included in the Traditional Educational Material (TEM) & Toolkit and to investigate the potential of the program in fostering experiential and innovative learning experiences. Additionally, they were informed about their school’s commitment to implementing six core activities in collaboration with partner schools from Greece, Cyprus, Italy, and France, while also having the flexibility to incorporate additional activities based on their students’ educational needs. As part of the implementation planning, it was decided that the PARCCE activities will be carried out across all school grades, from 1st to 6th, ensuring maximum student engagement and broad dissemination of knowledge throughout the school community.

A key focus of the training was on the pedagogical principles that should be considered when implementing the program, emphasizing Education for Sustainable Development (ESD), Whole School Approach (WSA), Climate Change Education (CCE), and Diversity & Inclusion.  Moreover, participants were briefed on the pre- and post-evaluation process, ensuring a systematic assessment of the effectiveness of teaching practices and student learning outcomes

Looking ahead, teachers were also introduced to the upcoming Augmented Reality (AR) training, scheduled for the next school year. This training will focus on the implementation of Innovative Educational Material (IEM), which will be based on the TEM and will incorporate AR technologies, enriching the teaching approach and enhancing the educational experience for students.

The training session was marked by enthusiasm, creativity, and active engagement, with teachers eagerly participating in discussions on the role of schools in environmental education and the promotion of sustainability. Participants expressed a strong interest in the educational materials and their applications, reaffirming their commitment to fully utilizing the tools and methodologies offered by the PARCCE program.

The session was led by School Principal Sarantis Chelmis and trainers Vasilis Psallidas and Georgios Voulgaris (MEdIES /MIO-ECSDE). With a clear vision and solid steps forward, the 1st Primary School of Rafina is moving confidently towards the successful implementation of PARCCE, leveraging education and modern technology to create a more sustainable and innovative future in the learning process.
