With the deadline Education 2030 Agenda approaching, it is crucial to accelerate the implementation of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) to deliver all 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). To support Member States in implementing the UNESCOFramework for the implementation of ESD beyond 2019and itsRoadmap, and to follow up on theBerlin Declaration on ESD(May 2021), UNESCO has recently established the new ESD for 2030 Global Network.
Building upon UNESCO’s worldwide community of practice on ESD which was forged out of the Decade of Education for Sustainable Development (UN DESD 2005-2014), the Network aims to create synergy among members and foster cross-sectoral collaboration to support the implementation of ESD nationally, regionally, and globally.
The platform provides opportunities for exchange and collaboration among education authorities and professionals, youth, researchers, etc. through activities structured around the following objectives:
Promising practices, knowledge-sharing and mutual learning
Global advocacy and policy-making
Collaboration and partnerships
Monitoring and evaluation
To promote knowledge sharing, collaboration and mutual learning through ESD-Net 2030, UNESCO is organizing a series of learning webinars in March, May and September 2023 on ESD pedagogy to highlight and promote innovative practices in ESD. The learning webinars will focus on providing concrete and practical ESD activities in line with the five priority action areas outlined in the ESD for 2030 Roadmap.
