Whaling Walls are a global series of 100 monumental, life-sized marine life murals painted by American artist and conservationist Robert Wyland. Created between 1981 and 2008, these massive public art installations span across the United States, Canada, France, Japan, Australia, and China. The primary mission of the project is to raise international awareness for ocean conservation and the protection of marine mammals.
According to the Wyland Foundation Website, these murals tell ‘…stories of the beauty and the plight of marine life, reminding people that we are all connected to these ecosystems and must spearhead efforts to healthier ocean and cleaner waterways’.
