BlueLightS funds schools to launch blue projects in their classrooms, with the aim of enhancing ocean and water literacy.
By starting a blue project in your school, you will not only help your students gain a deeper understanding of aquatic environments; you can also join the Network of European Blue Schools (NEBS) and earn the prestigious European Blue School label!
- FOR WHOM: Primary, secondary-level and vocational schools of the EU-27 Member States and third countries associated with Horizon Europe are eligible to apply
- WHAT: Flexible and effective ocean and water literacy projects in schools, which support the Mission Ocean & Water ambition and expand the Network of European Blue Schools.
- INDICATIVE TOPICS: Pollution/plastics / microplastics; Ocean/water ecosystem conservation; carbon neutrality and positive environmental impact; Sustainable aquaculture; Fresh water conservation; Freshwater/Marine Protected Areas; Climate change literacy; ecosystem-based services and nature-based solutions to protect the coast and seas; Protecting European rivers, lakes and aquiferous horizons; combating overfishing etc.
- GRANT: 3,000 EURO per school
- DURATION: 2-5 months
