TRAINING COURSE FOR FORMAL AND NON-FORMAL EDUCATORS ON EDUCATION FOR ALTERNATIVE WATER RESOURCES

MEdIES was really glad to run the week-long course for the third time from 15 to 21 October 2023 with the participation of 11 educators from Malta. The course aims to suggest a complete set of ESD methodology and resources to support ESD educators to develop a new water culture, responsible behaviour and transformative action as well as to develop competences in integrating NCWRs -Non Conventional Water Resources-  in teaching and learning. The course applied selected on-site (outdoor) training sessions in combination with hands on workshops, lectures and other indoor sessions, creating the enabling learning enviroment for advancing the understanding on:

  • how NCWRs can contribute to climate crisis mitigation and adaptation, particularly to water scarce communities;
  • how past water management methods as well as nature-based solutions can be re-considered and valued nowadays (in Europe and beyond);
  • how the cultural aspects of water resources (tangible and intangible) have a particular role in teaching and learning on ESD;
  • how the current challenges in relation to water and wastewater management can be meaningfully embeded in ESD and other teaching.
  • how to transform learning practices and lifestyles towards the SDG6.

The course was developed and coordinated by MEdIES while several invited expers from other Institutions delivered some sessions.

The participants were supported by ERASMUS + KA1 (Key Action 1: Mobility of Individuals).

It was a very appealing course to educators let alone when certain activities will be introduced to our students!

The course was interesting, informative and fruitful. Hands on activities outdoors were most understandable.
