Join the Clean Up the Med campaign, the largest initiative for cleaning Mediterranean beaches, bringing together volunteers, students, visitors, and citizens for over 30 years now!

Legambiente leads this unique, pacifist, and environmentalist community: Clean Up the Med. Their shared goal is simple but powerful—peace for all people on Earth. That’s why we must stay united in building a better, multi-ethnic world where everyone is free.

Clean Up the Med is the oldest and most widespread environmental clean-up campaign in the Mediterranean region. Independent and self-organized, it was born in Tunisia in 1993 when Legambiente introduced the idea during a meeting of young ecologists from across the Mediterranean. They called for joining forces in a unified eco-campaign—and here we are, 32 years later, still committed to that mission as plastic pollution has only worsened worldwide.

This year, they moved forward the beach clean-up to April 4th-6th, thinking that by that time the coastlines will still not have been cleaned by tourism operators or public administrations in preparation for the upcoming tourist season. Of course, you can change the date of your action to suit your organization’s needs.
