The 2026 UNECE (United Nations Economic Commission for Europe) Compendium of ESD Stories brings together 68 practical examples from 22 countries, of how Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) supports progress across five SDGs, specifically:
- SDG 6 (Water and sanitation)
- SDG 7 (Affordable and clean energy)
- SDG 9 (Industry, innovation and infrastructure)
- SDG 11 (Sustainable cities and communities)
- SDG 17 (Partnerships for the goals) [1, 2]
An analysis of the examples collected provides an opportunity to reflect on the common challenges and lessons learnt through implementing ESD projects in the UNECE region.
