In Service Teacher Training:

Educational Component of the Alter Aqua Programme
‚ÄúNon Conventional Water Resources Management (NCWRM) in Malta‚ÄĚ

8-9-10 July 2013 Gozo College, Gozo

In a nutshell

The training served as an initial in depth capacity building for primary teachers of Gozo on how to use the newly produced educational material on Non Conventional Water Resources Management¬†‚ÄúAlter Aqua‚ÄĚ. It offered to participants clarifications on the methods applied, and pedagogical tips on activities, ‚Äúcorrect answers‚ÄĚ to worksheets, pedagogic bibliography, etc.

the training was largely delivered through experiential methods including mapping exercises, using photo analysis as well as texts (media) analysis. All the educational material that was used was handed out to the participants in form of hardcopies as well as electronic material.

The twenty one (21) teachers that attended the training showed keen interest in the printed educational material that they were given as well as the experiential workshops that were held by the trainers.

The training was facilitated jointly by the MEdIES Secretariat (Iro Alampei) and the educational staff of NTM /EkoSkola (Marvic Refalo & Liz Saliba).

The training was organised in the framework of the Alter Aqua Programme: Alter Aqua is a programme on Non Conventional Water Resources (NCWRs) in Malta. It was initiated in 2011 by the Global Water Partnership Mediterranean (GWP-Med), in partnership with the Ministry for Gozo (MGOZ) and the Eco-Gozo Programme and the Coca-Cola System in Malta, aiming to mobilise NCWRs on the Island of Gozo, as a sustainable solution for water availability in view of increasing water scarcity, escalating demand and climate change.
