1. Visibility & Events

A. Closing meeting of the educational activities of WfC in Alexandroupoli, 23 April

In the framework of the Water for the City Programme (coordinated by GWP-Med) on 23 April the closing meeting of the MEdIES educational activities in Alexandroupolis took place, in cooperation with the ESD Officers of the Primary and Secondary Education Directory of Evros. We discussed the 2 years activities (2017-2018) in terms of: harmonization with the school curricula; student satisfaction; cooperation with the teachers involved and support in their work, etc. as well as the possibilities offered by the WEB APP Neroupoli (in Greek only).

The outcomes were quite positive while several ideas came up for the follow up of this initiative. For the record, from April 2017 to March 2018, the WfC educational activities engaged 4059 students and 345 teachers from ALL schools of Alexandoupolis!

MEdIES is thankful to the ESD Officers of the Educational Directory of Evros, Mr A. Palavouzopoulos (primary level) and for Ms S. Tsiropoulou (secondary) for the smooth collaboration during the past two years. We are also very thankful to the local educator, Ms Matina Vezyrtzi that embraced the program and implemented it professionally!Read more at http://www.medies.net/articles.asp?cID=8&aID=1193

(a) From 24 to 27 April 2018, MEdIES visited the city of Thessaloniki within the Non Conventional Water Resources Programme in Greece (coordinated by the GWP-Med) to implement awareness raising activities on issues related to the non-conventional water resources to selected schools! Totally 286 students participated in the school activities while on April 25th, a teachers training was organised for 31 teachers.

All activities were successfully organised with the cooperation of the ESD Officers of Primary and Secondary School Education Departments of the Eastern Thessaloniki, and animated by MEdIES Officers Ms Iro Alampei, Ms Vicky Malotidi and Mr Vassilis Psallidas.

(b) By mid-June the MEdIES activities for NCWRs in schools of Attica were completed. Totally, from the beginning of 2018, 1859 students and 200 teachers from Attica were engaged in awareness raising hands-on activities, also thanks to the cooperation of the ESD Officers of Primary and Secondary School Education Dpt. of Attica and Piraeus. Mr Vasilis Psallidas was the coordinator of the activities in Attica. More at http://www.medies.net/staticpages.asp?aID=657
